Rashon Scott Named Daily Commercial All-Area

LEESBURG – Leesburg High School’s Rashon Scott RB/CB, 5-9, 153, outstanding defensive
performance this past season for the Yellow Jackets, earned him a spot on the 2017 Daily
Commercial All-Area Team. The junior was placed on the Second Team Defense by the Daily
Commercial. Scott finished the season with 47 tackles and 19 solo tackles; as well as, two Defensive
Player of the Game awards by the Leesburg Coaching Staff after Ocala Forest and Ocala Vanguard
games; with attention to, 12 total tackles, 4 solo, 8 assists in the Jackets upset win over undefeated
Ocala Forest.

Leesburg first year head coach Mark Oates talked about Scott’s impact on the program during a press
conference after the selections were announced.

“Rashon Scott has some natural abilities and has a bright future if he puts in the necessary work,”
Oates said. “His main asset is his speed.”
