These hot humid afternoons have forced Head Coach Smith and his staff to cut down on some of the
heavy work usually in store for the squad at this time of the year. In addition, practice sessions have
been shortened, scrimmage time has been reduced and there have been less wind sprints. Don't try to
tell this to anyone on the squad, however as you would have a group of non-believers.

Overall Picture

Last year at this time the locals were battling the rain and praying for some afternoons of sunshine.
This year they are looking for some cool weather so that they can get down to some serious head
knocking they are going to need before they run headon into DeLand.

Overall the picture is one of uncertainty at Leesburg High. There are several plus and minus factors
involved which could make or break the Jackets in the games ahead. The team has good speed and
will field a heavier eleven than they did last year. Their offensive line will average 178 pound from end to
end but will have only five returning lettermen in its makeup. The defensive line will tip the scales at 190
so should be able to hold its own against anyone it will face this year. The backfield is expected to
average 175 pounds, but here again the lack of experience crops its ugly head.
