Last Friday's football, arching high at kickoff, landing hard on Eustis' Class B Championship hopes,
bouncing crazily away, still bouncing now Tuesday ..that's to say, here are some random blinks at what
happened last week...

Up in Lake City a big clash between undefeated Lake City Tigers and undefeated Palatka, only
conquerers of Sanford, Leesburg's main competition for this district's Class A title.

Perhaps a preview of the Leesburg-Lake City contest which will close out the regular season Nov. 28,
since Leesburg also plays Sanford, Nov. 21.

And Lake City the victor in a rugged defensive battle, with one boy, Lake City fullback Walt Peterson,
scoring the only touchdown after setting it up himself with a 53-yard punt return-plus rushing for 93
yards while the rest of his team was totaling 16 and Palatka was getting 63 total yards, passing and
rushing, for the night..

...after Leesburg's victory over Eustis, everybody was figuring points toward the District championships,
everybody for some reason getting different answers...but it looks, as if Leesburg can beat Sanford and
lost to Ocala and Lake City, and still win District, now that Sanford has lost twice (to Lyman Friday,
21-12 in case you haven't heard)...

...and there was some talk that if Leesburg and Lake City both approach their game with perfect
records, 9-0, the game would be cancelled...figuring, it seems, that the game could do nothing for
either team but risk a marring of their records, while they would perhaps meet later anyway in the State
Championships...but no, says somebody who knows a lot about such things, the game could not be
cancelled at that late date unless some major disaster occurred.

...tiny St. Cloud, fielding a team of less than 20 boys, playing the old single-wing offense to
accommodate the few players, was variously reported playing three different teams Friday. We had
them playing South Sumter, another newspaper had them at Groveland, a local expert said they were
playing Ocoee... St. Cloud (this is definite) lost to South Sumter, 34-12.

And the Honor Roll, full of familiar faces as the season heads toward the finish line...

On offense, plenty of top performances.
