But perhaps the best was by Greg Williams. The Yellow Jacket's fine end caught a short sideline pass
from Mike Napier, then proceeded on what Coach Wilbur Lofton called the finest run he's ever seen in
high school football, leaving Eustis wrapped up like contortionists with a series of exceptional fakes, to
gallop the rest of 54 yards for the Jackets first touchdown with only 38 seconds left in the half...on
another play he took a pitchout from Napier, faked a run and lofted a long pass, his first of the season
to Sherrill Lackey, who ran enough to make it a 48-yard play.

Tavares got its first victory after a half-season of coming close, as quarterback Robert Jones passed
for one touchdown, scored one on a 20-yard pass reception, passed for a two-point conversion and ran
one to account for all the 16 points the Bulldogs scored against Groveland.

He got an able assist from Harold Hanna, an Honor Roll regular, who rushed for 158 yards and tossed
the pass that Jones scored with.

Another Honor Roll regular, Wayne Allen again was the biggest of Wildwood's big guns in a 38-0
smashing of Lakeview. Allen gained 153 yards, half of the Wildcats total, scored two touchdowns. Doug
Powell and Richard Watkins each ran for long TDs to join Allen.

Clermont beat Lake Weir in the Highlander's best offensive show of the year, with Larry Jackson
rushing for 94 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown dash, and Bruce Kirkland carrying 10 times for 59
yards and scoring the two last -half TDs that won the game, one on a 16-yard run, the other on a short
pass from quarterback Scott Dykehouse.

And defense:

Leesburg Jim Mackey, whose bruising line play led the defensive effort that limited Eustis powerful
offense to 11 total yards...11 unassisted tackles, numerous assisted ones, plus part (with Tony Hart) of
the tackle of Rich Day in the end zone for the first (and winning) score of the game, a safety.

Richard Watkins of Wildwood, who added two interceptions and several unassisted tackles to his TD
on offense, for an all-around starring night.

Eustis Jim Tyre, who led the Eustis defense to hold Leesburg to its second lowest point total of the
year, by making 14 unassisted tackles, one of which, on Mike Chatman at the one-foot mark, stopped a
Jacket drive at the goal line.
