Max Wettstein says his team must play a perfect game to beat Forest. He should know. He has
master-minded the only victory over the top-ranked Wildcats in the school's last 35 games.

"Forest very rarely makes mistakes," says the Leesburg coach. "We can be completely ready for them,
but we still can't win if we make mistakes. They have a way of doing things right. They take advantage of
their opponent's mistakes."

The playoff hopes of both teams rest on the outcome of Friday night's District 7 confrontation at Booster
Stadium. Forest, though it is unbeaten in eight games and commands the No. 1 spot in the state prep
poll, cannot shoot for its third consecutive state title without first beating the Yellow Jackets. Leesburg,
7-1 and unranked, must beat Forest and then pray for the Wildcats to beat Vanguard in order to reach
the playoffs.

Westtstein says the key to Friday's class is preparation and he's hoping he has enough time to get his
team fully prepared. "You have to take the physical aspect for granted," he says. "We're assuming our
kids are going to hit and react. The rest is mental."

"Time is the big factor, I started preparing for this game Saturday. I worked 18 hours over the weekend.
We've had a lot of meetings and we've done a lot of mental work this week. We practiced twice
Wednesday. That's the kind of preparation it takes to beat Forest. I just hope we have it all down by
Friday night."

Wettstein doesn't mind talking about the Yellow Jackets' 23-20 overtime loss to Vanguard, which
allowed the Knights to remain in the district playoff picture. "It's all explainable," he says of his team's
lone defeat.
