Yellow Jacket Report Good Points

May 19, 1985|By Joe Williams of the Sentinel Staff
Orlando Sentinel
Updated: Tuesday, April 7, 2015, 10:17 a.m.

The attitude problems that have struck other Leesburg football teams seem to be a thing of the past . . .
Freshman David Fisher has looked good at quarterback this spring, and John McGlohorn, who had
been involved with the baseball team until last week, has also looked good at quarterback. . . . With six
coaches working with the team, the players have been getting a lot of individual instruction.

BAD POINTS

Absenteeism has been the major problem. . . . The defense still needs some work. . . . Sophomore
Steve Madden, a quarterback, will miss spring practice because of mononucleosis.

FOSTER SAYS

''Defense has never been a strong point. We do need to work on defense more, but everytime we plan
a defensive day is the time when we have the highest absenteeism.''

NOTES

The 50 players out for the spring is the most in Foster's reign as football coach at Leesburg.

A LOOK AHEAD

Leesburg is hosting a four-team jamboree on May 24 beginning at 7:30 p.m. Clermont will play
Groveland in the first quarter, Leesburg will meet Bushnell South Sumter in the second period,
Leesburg will take on Groveland in the third period and Clermont will meet South Sumter in the fourth
quarter.
