Leesburg High School's offensive line, expected to be the strength of the Yellow Jackets, gave fans
cause to celebrate during the Leesburg Spring Football Jamboree.

The Yellow Jackets drove 76 yards in seven plays for a touchdown against Groveland Friday. Fullback
Cory Coleman and tailback Kevin Brown did most of the damage although quarterback Steve Madden
had the big play, a 23-yard gain on a draw.

All the yardage came while running behind a big offensive line, spearheaded by
Glenn Burley, Jay
Connell and Joe Cornelius.

Leesburg defeated Groveland, 6-0, and then closed the jamboree with a 13-0 victory over Bushnell
South Sumter. Clermont defeated Groveland, 7-0, and South Sumter stopped Clermont, 7-0.

''Leesburg's size wore us down,''
Groveland Coach Mike Walker said.

''I thought Leesburg's line really looked sharp. They out-techniqued us,'' South Sumter Coach Inman
Sherman said.

''If we have a strong point on offense, it's our line. The offensive line was fantastic. Coach Neal Nelson
has done a fantastic job with them,''
Leesburg Coach Gene Foster said.

In the two quarters, Leesburg moved the ball 211 yards, scoring 19 points. Madden, who between
quarters was given a plaque as the outstanding academic male student in the school, was 1-of-2
passing for 23 yards.     1   of   2
