Not to be forgotten was Leesburg's defense, which blanked both opponents. The Yellow Jackets
surrendered only 17 yards to Groveland, although the Greenbacks were somewhat more effective than
that statistic indicates. Groveland lost 19 yards when
Robbie Brown sacked quarterback Randy Hart.
Leesburg's defense also was penalized twice for 20 yards.

Against South Sumter, Leesburg's defense caused two fumbles, surrendering only 30 yards. The
Raiders hurt themselves with three penalties for 15 yards. ''Coach Mike Semanchik calls them the
defense the 'Lunch Bunch,' '' Foster said. ''The defense did a great job. That's where we have a lot of
young people. Any errors that we made, we will be able to make up for.''

Clermont halfback Derek Jones had the longest play from scrimmage, running 72 yards for a
touchdown against South Sumter. Jones also scored Clermont's touchdown against Groveland on a
3-yard run.

''We didn't do a bad job of execution on the offensive line,''
Clermont Coach Bruce Kregloe said. ''We
could call offensive running plays that we knew would work and that was a good feeling. We will be a
fair to good offensive football team.''

South Sumter scored on its first two possessions against Clermont.
Troy Penninger caught a 6-yard
pass from John Kinley for the first touchdown, and Joey Harrelson ran 15 yards for the second score.

GOLDEN TRIANGLE JAMBOREE

Mount Dora won the Golden Triangle Spring Jamboree Friday night in Eustis. The Hurricanes defeated
Tavares, 3-0, and Eustis, 7-0. Eustis defeated Umatilla, 6-0, and Umatilla defeated Tavares, 2-0.

Mount Dora's Robert Kelly intercepted a pass with less than three minutes remaining against Tavares
to set up a 33-yard field goal by Joel Nichols with 25 seconds remaining.

Against Eustis,
John Clark came up with an interception, and one play later, Charles Ellison scored on
a 30-yard run.
