Leesburg Yellow Jackets vs. Ocala Vanguard Knights, High School Football Game

Vanguard Trounces Leesburg

Lake Sports - Prep roundup

LEESBURG — In a matter of 30 seconds Friday night, Ocala Vanguard scored two touchdowns and
later added 41 unanswered points in a 55-13 victory over Leesburg at Dabney Stadium.

The Knights' quick-start offense allowed them to open up a 15-0 lead before the Jackets got on track
offensively.

For most of two quarters, Leesburg was impressive and able to move the ball. Bishon Roberts scored
the first of two Leesburg touchdowns on a 24-yard run in the second quarter.

He later electrified the crowd on a beautiful 91-yard run as Leesburg closed the gap to 15-13 with 3:50
left in the first half.

The Jackets' rushing attack was very effective early and would have continued to work well, but starting
quarterback Shaun Cunningham was injured midway through the second period.

This injury proved costly as wide receiver Dustin Corkhill had to move to quarterback. Vanguard's
defense contained Leesburg the rest of the way.

Leesburg was unable to get any type of offense going from that point as injuries and turnovers
plagued the Jackets. Leesburg turned the ball over four times on fumbles.

Leesburg hosts Lake Weir on Oct. 4 in the Jackets' homecoming game.
