Leesburg Yellow Jackets vs. Lecanto Panthers, High School Football Game

Leesburg Keeps Lecanto Winless

But the Panthers find a few bright spots on offense and make fewer mistakes in the losing 35-14.

LECANTO - Leesburg defeated the Panthers 35-14 on their Homecoming Friday night behind Tyler
Hill's 212 yards and three touchdowns and a defense that limited its opponent to only 182 yards total
offense.

Lecanto forced three turnovers and committed just four penalties but routinely were pushed off the ball
by the bigger, faster Yellow Jackets.

After Hill took a quarterback keeper for a 17-yard touchdown on the Jackets' second drive, the Panthers
answered. Richard Chaney took a halfback pitch and dropped back to pass. Chaney found an open
Wayne Babyak for a 64-yard gain down to the 1-yard line to set up C.J. Osburn's TD run to tie the score
at 7.

"In the last three games, we were the one giving up the big plays and giving the ball away," said
Lecanto coach Bob LeCours, whose team dropped to 0-4. "Tonight, we came up with two big plays."

Trent McKibben scored twice in the second quarter from 5 yards out each time to give Leesburg a 21-7
going into halftime.

Lecanto couldn't get much going offensively but a ball finally bounced their way in the third quarter.
Osburn dropped back to pass on the Jackets' 40 and heaved a long throw into heavy coverage inside
the 5-yard line.

The ball was tipped by a defender to an open Babyak, who ran untouched into the end zone for a
40-yard TD, which pulled the Panthers to 21-14. Then Hill took over again, scoring from 6 yards out on
the ensuing drive to give the Yellow Jackets a 28-14 lead. Hill added a 50-yard TD run in the fourth
quarter to put the game away.

Central visits Lecanto on Monday night at 7:30.
