Coach Banning Worries Lest His Big Team May Go Stale

TAMPA, Fla, Dec. 6. (AP) Date for the Hillsborough (Tampa) Wauchula grid clash, one of the three
post-season elimination games to determine the state high school championship of Florida, has
been advanced from December 17 to next Saturday. Athletic Director Howard Wilsky of
Hillsborough, announced today. The game was moved up in order that it might be played on the
same date as that between Andrew Jackson of Jacksonville and Leesburg at Gainesville.
Winners of the two game will meet later for the state title.

By Dan MacMahon

In preparation for state championship play, Coach Banning and his title-chasing Yellowjackets
have been working out new plays, revamping and perfecting old plays and generally preparing for
the football classic of the year. Coach Banning stated that his greatest difficulty would be to
overcome any signs of staleness which comes as a reaction after a hard season has been
closed. An overtrained team is just as great has been idle for a long period he added.

With at least three all-state aspirants in the backfield and as many more on the line, and the
balance needing only a little pruning and "beef" to make them eligible for such naming, the
'Jackets will display their wares before the largest crowd of the year.
