Coach Banning Worries Lest His Big Team May Go Stale

Sports Staff
The Leesburg Morning Commercial
Wednesday, December 7, 1927

Eddie Cahill, Jimmie Adams and Joe Jenkins, Leesburg's prides, and hopes in the ball-carrying
division, are being primed for the greatest games of their careers and these "ten second men"
will carry the brunt of the attack.

"Gopher" Brown probably will be out of the lineup if a strained back muscle hurt in Monday's
scrimmage doesn't improve.

A. Polk and Bivins have been tried in practice and one of two will represent the school at the
quarterback position if Brown to found unable to play. The loss of Brown will be keenly felt, as his
heady.

The Jacket line from center to either end is in good shape and ready to test its strength against
the best in the state. It is probable that the average football fan hardly realizes the importance of a
fighting forward wall. An  example of this was forcibly illustrated in the recent All-American
selections, "Christy" Flanagan, fullback, who is just as good a player this year as last, was
relegated to a minor position because the
Notre Dame line was not up to its usual standard, and
he was unable to gain yardage as in previous play.

When Jenkins goes tearing through the line it is because his way has been cleared for him by the
forwards. The Yellowjacket forwards are expected to open holes in
Andrew Jackson's line for him.
If they do, the game is tied up ready for the 'Jacket return  trip to Leesburg.
