Local Aggregation Is In Great Shape For Hard Game

The Leesburg Morning Commercial

Signal practice only was the order of the day yesterday for the Leesburg Yellowjackets who will
open the football season this afternoon at Cooke Park when they meet the Montverde high
school for the first struggle of the season.

The Leesburg men will be resplendent in new uniforms and will have a chance for a real
baptismal when the Montverde boys star after their scalps. Contrary to general opinion
Montverde is not a weak team and will be able to offer plenty of competition for the local men.

The Yellowjackets are in fine fettle and signal practice held at the noon hour yesterday went off
like clock work. Capt. Ling will have his first opportunity to test his ability as a field general and
unless stage fright gets the best of him, football fans of this section will enjoy a smooth running
aggregation.

Coach Banning refused to be optimistic when asked for his opinion yesterday but stated that he
was confident that the Yellowjackets would come out on top in the opening game and that with
that contest behind them they would be ready for the balance of the season.

The game this afternoon will be called at 4 p.m. at Cooke Park. Tickets are on sale at Mac's
Soda shop and will be placed on sale at the gate at 3:30 p.m. Because of the Little Worlds
baseball series between Wildwood and Leesburg; the fourth game of which will played in this
city next Thursday, no cars will allowed inside the gates. Charlie Windram will officiate as
Referee and Wilber West will handle a beautiful new set of linesmens implements.
