Youngsters Show Improvement Over Last Week As Same County Seat
Outfit Gained A Win Over Them On Tavares Football Field

Leesburg's second team won from Tavares yesterday at Cooke park by a score of 7 to 6 and the
score was considered ample evidence that it was anybody's game up to the last minute of play.
Play was called at 4:15. The game was officiated by Jones, referee; Cox umpire; Morris, head
linesman.

The teams were evenly matched, the lack of weight on the Tavares team being amply met by their
pure fight, Leesburg during the first quarter made a determined effort for a touchdown and was only
stopped when a fumble on the six-yard line cost them a probable score. Polk and Bivens led the
attack in that quarter for the Leesburg team. Polk making a nice run around left end and Bivens
showing some fine line of plunging. He runs low and keeps driving after being tackled.

Second quarter started with the ball Tavares' 43-yard line in Leesburg's possession but the local
team failed to make yards and it was Tavares' ball. Tavares pull and an end run that netted them a
touchdown, Pike of the visitors taking the ball for a 63 yard ride. He showed a clean pair of heels
the several would-be tacklers and ran away from the entire Leesburg team. He made the run with
practically no interference. The point after touchdown failed..............
