Leesburg Yellow Jackets are undisputed football champions of the East Central Florida conference,
having gone through the season with no defeats in conference games. Their first conference game
was the thrilling game with
New Smyrna, which the Jackets won 19 to 8. Then they shut put the Eustis
Panthers 13 to 0, outfought the
DeLand Bulldogs 12 to 6, and then took the Sanford Celery Feds 24 to
13 for the closing conference game. The game tonight here against
Plant City is non conference.

The Yellow Jackets made this splendid record in spite of bad luck which dogged them from the New
Smyrna game on it was in this splendid game that
Elmo Drake broke his leg and was out for the
season. Drake was quarterbacking the varsity for his second year. Then in the
Clearwater game, right
end
Richard Patterson, broke his leg while Tom Gilchrist, letterman tackle, was out for the last two
games with a bone infection in his foot and
Charles Harvey, smashing fullback, was also out for two
games with a knee injury.

Leesburg's annual Thanksgiving game with Sanford brought out a line that had not shown up so well
during the entire season, the line held better than in previous games and its splendid clocking enable
Broadway to make an 80 yard run on the opening play after the kickoff on a right end sweep. All the line
was good but
George Lyon was the outstanding linesman if one could be picked.     1   of   3     Next
