Leesburg vs Apopka, High School Football Game

Jackets Meet Apopka In First Home Game

Programs Honor Dr. H.G. Holland

By Sports Staff
The Leesburg Commercial Ledger
Thursday, September 25, 1952

The Leesburg Yellow Jackets will open their home schedule here tomorrow night at eight o'clock when
they entertain the Apopka Blue Darters. The Jackets, after sustaining a setback in the opening game of
the 1952 season, are working hard in preparation for a comeback against the Apopka club.

The hard-charging Leesburg line, which drew favorable comment in last week's game, should prove a
big
factor in tomorrow's tilt. The passing of Apopka's sophomore quarterback Robert Pittman has been
outstanding along with the running of his mate, Johnny Myers, while the Jackets have shown power and
speed in halfbacks Jack Peachey and Jim Marshall.\

Apopka was edged out by Eustis last week in a close game, 7-6, while the Jackets bowed to Starke,
18-0.
Last year Apopka took the opening game of the season from the Jackets, 26-0.

The Football Dad's Club announced that Dr. H. G. Holland will be honored during the evening for his
many years service to local football. The programs will carry a tribute to Dr. Holland, along with his
picture.
