Grigsby Among Top Conference Ground Gainers

By Sports Staff
The Leesburg Commercial-Ledger
November 24, 1954

Tonight will be a night in the Orange Belt Conference play as the Leesburg Yellow Jackets meet the
Eustis Panthers in Eustis. The big headliner down on the East Coast will be where the leading Cocoa
Tigers meet the second place Melbourne Bulldogs in Melbourne. The Apopka Blue Darters, will go to
Winter Park to meet the Wildcats and the Lakeview Red Devils of Winter Garden will travel to Titusville.

The Melbourne-Cocoa game will have all eyes on the outcome if the Melbourne Bulldogs, win over the
Tigers. It could throw the race into a tie.

In last week's action of conference play the Winter Park Wildcats earned themselves a tie for third place
with Apopka by knocking the Melbourne Bulldogs out of a tie for first place when the Wildcats, defeated
the Bulldogs, 6-0, and Apopka came next with 7-0 win over the Lakeview Red Devils.

Freddie Howard, of Melbourne Bulldogs is leading the conference scoring with 37 points, being
followed by Bobby Anderson of Cocoa Tigers and Ray Ponder, of Winter Park, with 36 points. Howard,
also leading in the individual yards department too with 561 yards.
