Leesburg vs Sanford, High School Football Game

Sanford Too Much For Valiant Leesburg Friday: 25 to 0

Even if old man fumble had been left behind Friday night, the winner of the Yellow Jacket-Sanford game
Friday night might have been the same. But the result, also, might have been closer and the game less
one sided. Hawkins, a lot of good blocking and plenty of tough football were just too much for
Leesburg-in that game, at least.

When Sanford got their first touchdown in the second quarter they started from Leesburg's 31-yard line.
With 9 yards still to go on the third down a 35-yard pass found Shoemaker on the 3-yard line waiting for
it. That was first blood - 6 points. The kick for point after touchdown was blocked.

The second half opened, after the kickoff with the Yellow Jackets in possession on Sanford's 40. Two
Leesburg fumbles and a 5-yard penalty combined to lose 5 yards in three downs. Richardson's good
kick and a return found Sanford in possession on their own 22-yard line.

On the first play, with mighty fine blocking, Jones made a Sanford gain of 30 yards. On the next play that
man Hawkins went around his left end on a sneaker and ran through the entire Leesburg secondary for
48 yards and a touchdown. Pass into the end zone was knocked down. Score: Sanford 12, Leesburg 0.

Sanford's next trip between the goal posts started with a Yellow Jacket fumble recovered by Sanford on
their 40. Flowers gained 12 on third down. Sanford made their yards again, a 1 1/2 yard again on 4th
down. Then Jones went around his left end for yards and the ball was placed on Leesburg's 18-yard
line.     1   of   2     Next
