Leesburg Yellow Jackets vs Groveland Greenbacks, High School Football Game

Yellow Jackets Come From Behind To Whip Groveland
27-26

Team Captured 5 Of Last Six Games On Tough Schedule

If a ball team can come from behind and win that is a sign of a good team. If such is the case then the
Yellow Jackets J.V. team is one of the best at L.H.S. in several years.

Yesterday afternoon the J.V.s never led until the last three minutes of the game, but when they went out
in front they stayed out and went on to win 27-26 over Groveland. The Greenbacks broke ice in the early
minutes of the game with a 35 yard jaunt for six points, the extra point was good and Groveland led 7-0.
The Yellow Jackets got the ball and on the third play from scrimmage the Jackets scored on a pass
play from Ronald Bell to Buddy Harris the kick was good and the score was 7-7.

The Jacket defense gave way again in the second quarter and the Greenies scored again and went
ahead 14-7. Cy Carrol and Ronald Bell combined their efforts to take the Jackets to the three yard line
where Carrol scored.try-for point was blocked and the Jackets trailed at the half 14-13.

The second half seemed to be a repetition of the first as the Greenies hit pay-dirt soon after the kickoff,
but missed the important try-for-point. This was followed by a Jacket score by Carrol and the point was
made tying the game 20-20 with 4 minutes to go. The Jacket defense lead by Jack Hewitt and Harold
Meyers, again yielded the Greenies a T.D. and then they lead 26-20, as the time was running out. The
fired up Jacket line opened gaping holes in the Groveland line and Cylean Carrol scored the tying T.D.
and Ronald Bell sneaked over with the winning point.
