Leesburg Yellow Jackets vs Cocoa Tigers, High School Football Game

Leesburg Plays Cocoa, Tough OBC Battle Tonight

By Sports Staff

Friday, October 21, 1955

The Leesburg Yellow Jackets will meet Cocoa in Leesburg tonight In Memorial Stadium in an Orange
Belt Conference football game. Game time is 8:00 p.m. and this contest should be good in all around
play.

Cocoa, now in second place in the conference, will bring to Leesburg a strong football eleven. Using
both the single wing and the T formation, Cocoa has shown a big and rugged team this year. Bobby
Anderson, who runs as tailback in the single wing and as left half in the T, is the star of the team. A fine
runner and passer, spectators tough to hold down. The spectators will see a fine football played in this
young man.

Andy Miller has been moved to halfback and Jesse Kimmons has been moved to end as Coach Burt
prepared his Yellow Jackets this week for the Cocoa game. Coach Burt felt that the team looked it best
yesterday during a 2 hour scrimmage session. Kimmons and Miller have traded positions in order that
the line could have more weight on the flank and more speed could be added to the backfield. Both boys
looked very well in their new positions yesterday. Kimmons was an end last year but moved to the
backfield this year.

The Yellow Jackets should show a much improved offense The coaches stressed both running and
passing in the scrimmage with both of these attacks improving over previous games.

Pass defenses was definitely stressed as the Yellow Jackets prepared to set up a defense to contain
the Coach team.

Cocoa defeated the Leesburg team last year, 6 to 0, with a desperation pass in the final minutes of the
game. Anderson threw the winning pass. However, if last year's game can be used as an example, the
game will be a fine ball game.
