The Elks Lodge has raised about $800 for its work with crippled children, Ed Bell, co-chairman of the
annual Elks Bowl football game, reported yesterday.

"All the figures are not in but we believe it will be in the vicinity of $800 to $900," said Bell. "The cold
wind played havoc with the crowd and was a bad break so far as the gate was concerned."

However, the Elks sold about $1,200 gross in program ads.

The Lake Weir Hurricanes defeated Leesburg High School to win the Bowl title for 1956.

Exalted Ruler Oz Ferguson, of the Leesburg Elks Lodge No. 1703, officiated at ceremonies following
the game and presented trophies to the two high schools.

Accepting the winner's trophy at the Elks Lodge following the game was J.M. Pfeil, coach of the Lake
Weir Hurricanes and his team captain. Head Coach Earl Burt and Captain Ivan Roberts accepted a
trophy on behalf of the Leesburg Yellow jackets.

Gold footballs were presented to players on both squads who were in uniform for the game.

Officials, players, and dignitaries enjoyed a chicken barbecue courtesy of the Leesburg Elks Lodge No.
103, following the game.
