A game sure to have an important bearing on the standings in the Orange Belt Conference is on tap
tonight when the Tigers of Cocoa High School entertain the invading Yellow Jackets from Leesburg in
Cocoa at 8 tonight.

Except for end Reggie Fechtel, Head Coach Burt and his staff will be traveling to Cocoa blessed with a
squad that is in top shape physically. The boys are really aroused for this big game, as well, and realize
that a win tonight will put them in the thick of the race for the top spot in the Orange Belt.

Fullback Eddie Parker is running like the Eddie Parker of old and is sure to carry the burden of the
Yellow Jacket attack tonight. Along the line Tackles Wayne Hall, Jimmy Tichenor, and Jimmy Johnson
along with Guards Allen Brown, Gene Weaver, and Ferrell Young, are hitting with a vengeance that is
sure to shake those Tiger backs in the hopes of jarring that ball loose. Russell  Avera at center with
Jerry Garlock, Johnny Roberts, and Dan Larsen at the wings completes the Jacket forward wall. In the
backfield it'll be Ivan Roberts at Quarter. The half backs will alternate with Shoo Shoo Showley and
Robert McLeod the go go boys teaming up with Bobby Blount and Lonnie White a couple of feather
hipped twins.

All eyes will be on Halfback Davey Williams of the high flying Cocoa Tigers tonight. Here is a boy who
has run over the opposition all season long and is one of the hardest running backs in conference
competition. If our boys are able to stop this high flying scatback much of the Tiger attack will be stifled.
An All Conference choice last year, Williams returns to competition better than ever. In the first game of
the season, when Cocoa dumped Sanford 33 to 7, it was Davey Williams who scored three touchdowns
and racked up 125 yards of the 263  total rushing yardage the Tigers rolled up. At Quarterback Willie
Tharpe, a 180 pound terror, also comes in for his share of the honors. He scored two touchdowns and
amassed a total of 77 yards in that demonstration of power against Sanford. Completing the Tiger
backfield is Joe Seamon at full and Charles Ward at the other halfback slot.

Jim Smith and Dave Rufe will be holding down the end posts for the Tigers while John Weidler, John
Prine, and Ed Geverage, will share tackle duties. The middle of the forward wall features Jim Kincaid
and Richard Davis at the guard spots with Charles Norwood, a three year letterman at Center.

The Tigers of Cocoa High have been victorious in their two only games thus far this year, downing
Sanford and Seabreeze of Daytona with a weeks rest between the two games. They face the Yellow
Jackets after another weeks rest and this may well be the key to the outcome of the game. The Jackets
have taken on some tough opponents in each of their four games this year and are in the best of shape
to go all the way. The boys are tackling and blocking with some fine mid season form and this may well
spell the difference between victory and defeat.
