Yellow Jackets To Play Lakeview Gridders Tonight

By "DES"
The Daily Commercial
Thursday, October 9, 1958

The Leesburg Yellow Jackets still looking for win number one will play their first away game of the
season when they travel to Winter Garden tonight where they will meet the Lakeview Red Devils.

Conference foe Lakeview has a one win, one loss, and one tie record so far this year and came out on
the long and of the 15 to 6 score between these two Orange Belt Conference contenders last year.

The Maroon and White eleven rely heavily on their ground game with Halfbacks Hughlan Martin, a
sophomore sensation last year, and Jack Harper, a senior letterman carrying the brunt of the attack.
These touchdown twins have been responsible for seven six pointers this year. Martin is leading the
parade with four while Harper is right behind him with three. Fred Crabtree gives them plenty of power
up
the middle from his fullback post and Quarterback Frank Browder directs the Split T attack.

The Yellow Jackets are expected to unleash a new offense in tonight's game as they resort more and
more to the use of flankers and the outside running ability of halfback speedsters Sophomore Randy
Brown and letterman Ronnie Gibson. John Ward will be back at his old familiar quarterback post while
Roger Clark, who continues to show more improvement in his running game as the season
progresses will
be in at fullback.

Changes in the Jacket forward wall bring in Charles Miller and James Walker at end with Alex
Baetzman
and Ken Ferguson in the tackle slots while Glenn Tyre and Lynn Bates will be the guards in the new
offensive unit. Ferrell Young at center completes the picture.

Over on the defensive eleven it will be Eddie Fletcher and Charles Miller on the flanks with Roy Laffick
and Ken Ferguson at tackles and James Copeland and Chip Bridges the middle defensive guards.
Linebackers will be Ferrell Young, Wayne Douglas, and Lynn Bates. Randy Brown and Ronnie Gibson
will
be the deep men.

Some 25 on the varsity squad are expected to suit up for the trip to the Orange County city.
