All Conference Halfback George Kevern led the Apopka Blue Darters to a lopsided 32 to 6 Orange Belt
Conference win over the Leesburg Yellow Jackets at Apopka Memorial Stadium Friday night. It was the
second consecutive conference loss for the locals and the first conference win for the host Darters.

Kevern racked up three TD's with runs of 16 and 3 yards in the first half and a 63 yard-yard sprint in the
second half along with a plunge for the extra point to jump into a 31 point lead in the scoring race in the
Orange Belt Conference

The Jackets took the opening kickoff and moved the ball well, to be set back by a 5-yard penalty and to
lose the ball on downs inside the Apopka 30. From that point the host Darters moved goalward mixing
their running game with an 18-yard pass play to All-Conference end Dan Goolsby, to give them a first
down on the Jackets 11. A 5 yard penalty slowed their drive momentarily but halfback Kevern broke the
scoring ice with a 16-yard jaunt to register the first 6 points on the board.
