To the delight of their fans, to the surprise of their coaches, and to the utter dismay of Winter Park the
scrappy Jackets of Leesburg High unleashed a herd of horses in Orange County Friday night to walk off
with a 46 to 0 win over their Orange Belt Conference foe. This closes out conference foe. This closes
out conference competition for the Jackets with a three and two mark and brings them up to their final
game of the year next week against Haines City. This will be another away game for the locals and the
faithful are expected to follow their team en masse as the senior members of the squad close out their
playing careers for Leesburg High.

Winter Park got the first break in the ball game Friday night but failed to capitalize on it. They recovered a
Jacket fumble at the Leesburg forty and called on their
halfback Leslie King who responded first with
three yards and then rambled for twenty five more before he was hauled down inside the Jackets ten. At
this point the Jacket defensive eleven who played a whale of a game all night long rose to the occasion
and forced the Wildcats to fumble.

The Jacket offensive unit went right to work starting at their own two yard line in a sustained drive with
six consecutive first downs that culminated in a touchdown. Fullback David Herlong, one of the big
reasons for the Jackets amazing success, broke the scoring ice with a five yard run. Quarterback Mike
Nappi with a twenty one yard sprint was the big round gainer in this drive.
