LHS Gets 3 On OBC Team

Leesburg Yellow Jackets have placed three men on the 1961 All-Orange Belt Conference football team.

End Max Wettstein, Back Bill McBride and Guard Bobby Mock were given berths by OBC coaches.

Conference champion Sanford placed five men on the 22 man team.

Apopka placed four on the star squad, including the only two repeaters from last year's team - end Dan
Goolsby and high scoring halfback George Kevern.

DeLand also has four representatives, while Wildwood and Leesburg have three each, Lakeview two
and Winter Park one.

Keven, who scored 15 touchdowns in regular season play. Sanford halfback Bubba Davis Sanford End
Don Harvey and Goolsby got the most votes at their respective positions.

Gary Stump of DeLand and Max Wettstein of Leesburg are the other two ends, with Louis Sykes,
Apopka, John Myers, DeLand, at tackle.

The guards are Tom Schultz, DeLand, Bobby Mock, Leesburg, James Thibodeau and Stanley Helton,
Wildwood. J. B. Phillips of Sanford and Tommy Ruby of Lakeview are the two centers.

Rounding out the two backfields chosen are Mike Kicidis, DeLand, Bruce Melinn, Lakeview, Bill
McBride, Leesburg, Dickie Parker, Apopka, Bill Phagan, Sandford and Leslie King, Winter Park.

Honorable mention selections are:

Milton Culp, DeLand; David Herlong and Ken Smithgall, Leesburg; Bill Griffin and Gene Sikes, Apopka;
Butch Riser, Sanford; Carl Vausex, Roger Hensley, and Chip Harp, Wildwood; George Bridges and
Dave McAllister, Winter Park.
