JACKETS COME HOME CHEERING ANDREW
JACKSON

"BEATEN BY A BETTER TEAM," THEY DECLARE

SCORE OF 37 TO 0 IS INDICATION OF A HARD-FOUGHT GAME

HOME BOYS TOO LIGHT TO STOP EXPERIENCED JAX MACHINE

By Dan MacMahon
The Leesburg Morning Commercial
Sunday, December 11, 1927

LEESBURG - Heavier, stronger and faster, on the average, Andrew Jackson Tigers decisively proved
the old saw, "a good big team is better than a good small team."" Yellow Jackets returning home last
night were enthusiastic in their praise of the Jacksonville team. "National champions," was the
compliment given to the big Red and White outfit. Cheering the winners, yet the Jackets knew to a man
that only the first line team was trusted against the Leesburg eleven.

Playing before a crowd of 2,000, the Yellow Jackets gave their all in vain efforts to stem the lightning
thrusts and break through the interference of the Jacksonville aggregation. The opening few minutes of
play brought out the most decisive drive that the 'Jackets made.

Eddie Gets Away
Putting the ball into play on the 20 yard line, Eddie Cahill circled right end for first down in the prettiest
end run seen this year and following his interference made 15 yards before he was downed. Two more
first downs in which Adams and Cahill both figured, brought the ball well down in the enemy's territory,
but although aided by a penalty, the Yellow Jackets were unable to break past the 38-yard line.
