Western Michigan completes 2018 class with 3-star QB from
Florida

Having already touted the highest-rated class in Mid-American Conference history following the early
signing period, Western Michigan added some more talent to its 2018 class on national signing day
on Wednesday.

The Broncos completed their class when Leesburg, Florida, 3-star quarterback Wyatt Rector officially
signed his national letter of intent to play in Kalamazoo. WMU also added three preferred walk-ons in
Grandville kicker Gavin Peddie and long-snapper Bryce Bouwens, as well as Palatine, Illinois, safety
Jake Moertl.

Rector is the second quarterback in the Broncos' 2018 class, joining 3-star Kaleb Eleby out of
Maryland Heights, Missouri. Eleby was among the 20 recruits to sign with WMU back in December.

WMU signs highest-rated class in MAC history

According to 247sports, Rector is the No. 31-ranked dual-threat quarterback in the nation. It lists
6-foot-2, 205-pound Eleby as the No. 27-ranked pro-style quarterback.

Rector decommitted from Virginia in November. Following an injury-shortened junior season, he
completed 180 of 355 passes for 3,252 yards and 26 touchdowns, while rushing for 918 yards and 18
touchdowns. He graduated from Leesburg in December.

"(Western Michigan) is getting a kid that no one is going to outwork him," Leesburg coach Mark Oates
said of Rector. "He's a beast in the weight room and a great student. He's a big strong kid that works
hard, he's a competitor, he wants to win, he's very coachable and he comes from a good family."

Rector and Eleby join a quarterback room that includes junior Jon Wassink, who suffered a
season-ending broken collarbone against Eastern Michigan after helping the team to a 5-3 record.
Reece Goddard played the remainder of the season under center as a true freshman, going 1-3 as a
starter. Junior Alex Mussat and redshirt freshman Chris Riddle will also compete for snaps during
spring camp.
