VANCOUVER, B.C. – Former Mercer linebacker Lee Bennett has re-signed with the BC Lions Football Club, a
Canadian Football League (CFL) member, for the 2019 season, the team announced earlier this week.

Bennett was one of three international players who signed contracts with the Lions for 2019, joining quarterback
Ricky Lloyd and defensive lineman Ebenezer Ogundeko. All three players finished the 2018 season on the Lions'
practice roster, but dressed for at least one game.

Bennett became the first Mercer football alumnus to sign a professional contract when he agreed on a deal with
the Lions in September; he later made his professional debut on Oct. 19, recording one tackle on special teams
in the Lions' CFL Playoff-clinching win over Edmonton.

The Leesburg, Fla., native was a three-year starter at Mercer with 33 starts in 44 games played during his
standout career. Bennett was a team captain and earned All-Southern Conference First Team honors after setting
a program single-season record with 110 tackles as a senior in 2017.
