Leesburg Yellow Jackets vs. Orlando Edgewater Eagles, High School Football Game

Jackets Top Eagles, 23-0

Greg Engle threw for two touchdown passes and ran for another as Lessburg shut out host
Edgewater, 23-0, Friday night in a Class AAAA, District 7 game. Leesburg (4-3, 2-1) took the lead, 7-0,
when Engle passed to Tommy Willis with five minutes left in the first quarter. Late in the half, after
Leesburg had gone ahead 9-0 with a safety, Engle scored on a 1-yard keeper to make it 16-0 at
halftime.

The touchdown was set up when the Yellow Jackets moved 55 yards on seven plays. With the ball on
Edgewater's 1-yard line, Lee Hanks tried to dive in, but the Eagles (0-7, 0-2), showing a spark of good
defense, held him. Engle, however, scored on the next play.

On Leesburg's first possession in the third quarter, Engle found Joe Fernandez in a crowd of
defenders for a 14-yard touchdown pass.

Leesburg Coach Richard Kennedy said he was particulary happy with his defense.

''They put a lot of pressure on quarterback Cornelius Bellemy,'' he said. ''Darrell Thomas held the line
well.''

Leesburg running back Undra Mitchem, who leads the team in rushing, ran 104 yards on 19 carries.

''We're playing the best we can,'' Edgewater Coach Sam Weir said. ''My biggest dissapointment was in
our pass blocking.''
