RLANDO DEFEATS LEESBURG HI 45 TO 0

Sports Staff
Leesburg Commercial
November 7, 1924

Leesburg High eleven went down to defeat Saturday at Orlando when Orlando high school
romped down
the field for a 45 to 0 victory, Leesburg managed to hold Orlando pretty well in the first quarter,
Orlando
scoring only two points on a safety during this period. But from the second quarter on it was an
evident
victory for the Orlando boys.

Leesburg tried in vain to stop the steady gains, but in some unaccountable way they had lost
their
characteristic "fight" and "pep" and were unable to check the steady march down the field.
Orlando
managing to make 27 first downs for 447 yards and making 71 yards on returned kicks, netting
Orlando a
grand total of 642. Hoefler and Alleman for Orlando played splendid football scoring 3
touchdowns each.
Hagerman played a good game also.

Porter and Green were Leesburg's stars playing exceptionally well with the old time Leesburg
spirit. A
large attendance was there from Leesburg and no criticism can be made of the support given
the team,
Leesburg rooters managing to hold their own against the Orlando rooters with a bunch four
times as
large. The local boys are bringing the score down in every game and say they are going to show
the
people what they can do November 11th at Tavares where they will play this same team and
they expect
the outcome will be slightly varied.
