LEESBURG - Leesburg high school in the first contest of the football season went down to ignominious
defeat at the hands of the alumni by a score of 16 to 0. Out-weighed and out-experienced, it is true, yet
high school should have won, for organized effort in conjunction with every day training should be able
to defeat the casual effort of a group who have never played together before and the lack of strength
that come with every day practice.

High school was bewildered. Signals were forgotten. Even common sense football disappeared when
they forgot to kick on the fourth downs. We would put the whole disaster down as stage fright but we
didn't like to do so for we truthfully feel that as a team high school has the "gang' they have had in
several years.

Ling on left end played the outstanding game for high school. Alumni could not get past him very often
he was able to penetrate their line and throw the runner for a loss. Jenkins at full back gave momentary
glimpses of good football especially on the defense. Center was weak and we would like to see
Williams given an opportunity at the position.
