NEVER LOST ONE SCHEDULED GAME IN HALF DECADE

Only Defeat Was a Post Season Game for the State Pennant

Leesburg Yellow Jackets ended their 1931 football season last Friday and with a victory that marked
the ending of five seasons during which Leesburg high school has not lost a single scheduled
game. This remarkable record has never been equaled in the state and probably in very few other
states.

Coach Banning came to the local school in 1926 and has established the enviable record of having
coached for six years with only three defeats out of a total of 51 games, two of these occuring in his
first year and one in 1927 when the Jackets played
Andrew Jackson in a post season game for the
state championship at
Gainesville. During the last five seasons his team has played 43 games,
including three post season games. With no defeats on his regular schedule and one defeat in a
post season game and only two games tied, his teams have run up a total of 1273 points against
their opponents' 133.
