One of the most interesting discussions among Leesburg people this week was the release of Prof.
Frank J. Banning from the Leesburg schools and his signing on as supervising principal of the Eustis
schools.

Banning has won a place of highest esteem in Leesburg. Not only is he hero to the boys but his
influence among them has come to mean a great deal to the parents and friends. His years of
successful training of the Yellow Jackets, especially in football, have won him an outstanding
reputation throughout the state.

He has sent to the University of Florida such stars as Joe Jenkins, Spurgeon Cherry, Drennan Brown
and half a dozen more who are winning their spurs in athletics. At the same time Banning has
influenced those who were fortunate enough to be in his classes to become better scholars. His
teaching has been as much by example as by instruction and his regard is high accordingly.
