Eight Seniors Played Last Game Friday night.

By J. H. Polatty
The Leesburg Ledger
Thursday, December 14, 1934

Last Friday night, playing in the coldest weather yet experienced this season and in a drizzling rain part of
the time, the Leesburg Yellow Jackets wound up their eleven game undefeated and untied schedule by
beating the St. Augustine Mullets 19 to 0.

Playing the last football game in their high school career in this game Friday night was Curry Brady,
Everett Boyd, Ross Golden, W. T. Hall, Billy Johnston, James Oxford, Fonia Pennington, and Roe Wilkins.
These boys are all Seniors and will graduate from school and from high school football at the closing of
school. Some of the fellows were probably more outstanding than others graduating but as far as service
to football is concerned, they all reserve the same credit in my opinion.

"Hughey" Wilkins, who had two years of playing to his credit before this year's season opened, shared
equally the outstanding playing of the left and right guard positions with Billy Johnston, who has three
years of credit to his career.

"C. E. Boyd was a dependable substitute for the tackle position with two years of football to his credit.

Jimmie Oxford, with only one year of experience, made history for himself as well as the school at the
center position, while Ross Golden and "Troy" Hall filled the quarter back and the half back positions with
outstanding ability.

Fonia Pennington and Curry Brady, the two outstanding veterans of the squad, put on exhibitions during
all the games in which they participated that were most outstanding.
