Early Football Practice On With Coaches Confident

By Sports Staff
The Leesburg Commercial Ledger
Thursday, August 28, 1952

Leesburg High School can expect a winning football team, if the enthusiasm and confidence of the
coaches expressed before the Kiwanis Club Tuesday can be communicated to the players.

Introduced by Principal Ray Hayes, head coach Ed Stack in turn introduced his staff, Bill Peck, Keith
Pitchford, Dean Grove and Bobby Vincent, with each briefly outlining their part in building the Yellow
Jacket team.

"All of us are optimistic and want our boys to be," said Stack. That wins more games than any top play."

He said that the community will enjoy a fine schedule of home games this year, including the annual
hotly-contested game with Ocala, and a stiff competitor, Fletcher High of Jacksonville.

"I don't think we stepped in over our heads with Fletcher," Stack believes.

Junior Varsity coach Bobby Vincent said that the A and B squads this year will be more closely knit. He
said he believed the Fathers Club formed last year helped materially engineer spirit and morale.

In telling the club what the public can do for a better football team, Stack urged. "Give the boys a pat on
the back and come out and see them play."

Hayes said that more stands are being built at the field, and that fans in Leesburg have one of the best
playing fields in the state.
