Leesburg vs Ocala, High School Football Game

Ocala Downs Jacket By 25-7 Score

By Jim Allen
The Leesburg Commercial Ledger
Thursday, November 6, 1952

The undefeated Ocala Wildcats took their seventh straight game of the year last Friday night on
Memorial Field, downing the Leesburg Yellow Jackets, 25 to 7.

The Leesburg Jackets amazed the crowd by exploding to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, and holding the
Wildcats to a 7-7 deadlock at the half.

Ocala came back after intermission to put the game on ice with three touchdowns.

The Jackets took the opening kickoff and drove 55 yards for the first score of the game. Jim Marshall
dove
across the double stripe from the two for the TD and Ray Richardson booted a perfect placement.

In the second quarter Wildcat quarterback Joe Priest tossed a fifteen yard pass to John Barksdale for
Ocala's first score, Kay Green added the point.

Ocala went ahead in the third quarter when Priest flipped Tom Adkinson a ten yard pass. In the last
quarter Kaye Green and Tom Winfield added two touchdowns to salt the game away for Ocala.

The Jackets are home tomorrow night, meeting the Winter Park Wildcats in their annual Homecoming
game.
