Bobby's Football Column

Well, the good news in todays column is the Leesburg Yellow Jackets JV's 7-0 win over Weirsdale. It
was the JV's first game and they started their season off with a bang.

The story of this victory is a surprising one. As I told you in Tuesday's column that our JV quarterbacks
were going to help the JV's a lot in this game and brother they did.

The star of the game both on offense and defense is not hard to pick for me and would not be for you if
you saw the game. Quarterback Bob Blount played one of the most brilliant games for a boy his size
that I've ever seen. Bob was all over that field making tackles on defense and was mixing his plays to
lead the Jackets to a 7-0 victory over Weirsdale.

I saw Bob make at least two tackles on Weirsdale players who had broke away and were going for
touchdowns. I didn't keep account of it but I think he picked up the most yardage too. On the D play Bob
was supposed to hand off to the right halfback but he didn't come through the right hole so Bob had no
choice but to keep it himself, so he went right through the hole the halfback was supposed to go
through and pile drived 22 yards to paydirt. I asked some of the players who they thought played the
best game and 9 out of 10 said Bob Blount.

Billy Standridge also played a good game on offense and defense. Billy made quite a bit of tackles,
picked up a lot of yardage, and scored Leesburg's extra point.     1   of   3     Next
