Billy Huber Has Bad Knee, Off Squad Week To
10 Days

By "DES"
The Daily Commercial
Wednesday, September 11, 1957

Billy Huber who was operating one of the halfback slots on the Yellow Jackets second
unit turned up with a sprained knee in scrimmage earlier this week and will be lost to the
squad for a week to ten days.

The injury to Huber is the first one to be reported by the Leesburg High squad this year
and while it is not
of a serious nature every [precaution is being taken to prevent future injuries and to
keep the squad in tip
top shape for the full season ahead.

Ronnie Gibson has been moved up from the Junior Varsity squad to take Huber's place
and in early
practice, has shown up well.

SHOWLEY SHOWS PROMISE
Chuck Showley continues to improve with every practice and big things are expected
from this speed
machine in the Jacket backfield this year.

The second unit backfield featured Mike Cyrus at quarterback with Randy Brown and Bill
Standridge at
the halfs and Roger Clark as fullback. Clark is certainly a comer and will in time prove to
be a very
capable fill in for workhorse Eddie Parker as the season progresses. Brown looked
particularly  good
kicking off for the second unit and may see some action in this capacity before the
season ends.

LAFFICK-LAMB TEAM
Along the line, Tackles Roy Laffik and Johnny Lamb have continued to impress the
coaching staff and
should come in for their share of duty this season. Lamb particularly has continued to
shine with each
session and is sure to be one of the stalwarts in the Jacket forward wall.

Everything points to the big opener her on the 02th with Ocala and all hands are
working towards this
goal in order to bring the team up for this one.
