Seminoles Out To Avenge Loss To Locals '56

By Sports Staff
The Daily Commercial
Sunday, November 8, 1957

It'll be a young, inexperienced squad of Yellow Jackets that will be facing a big, bruising
bunch of
Seminoles from Sanford High tonight as Leesburg entertains at Homecoming at
Memorial Field. Kickoff is
scheduled for 8 o'clock and the Seminoles will be out to avenge last year's 15 to 14 loss
to the Jackets.

Under Coach Jim Pigott in his first year at Seminole High School the visitors have thus
far notched
victories over Lyman, Seabreeze, and Orange Belt Conference foe Apopka and have
battled the Winter
Park eleven to a 6 to 6 deadlock. Posting a two win, seven loss, and on e tie record in
conference
competition last year Seminole High comes into town the favorite over a Yellow Jacket
team that is
definitely building for the season's ahead.

Operating from a T offense the visitors feature plenty of beef up front and an
outstanding quarterback in
"Cecil Dandridge. The youngster can throw with the best of them and it was his strong
arm that meant
victories against both Apopka and Seabreeze. In Eddie Barbour the Seminoles have a
halfback that will
hit and git, while Bob Johnson at fullback gives them plenty of power up the middle
Johnny Yaeckle fills
out their backfield.

In the meantime, Coach Billy Brewer at Leesburg High continues to have his share of
troubles: only his
troubles seem to come in doubles. Roger Clark has been nursing a sprained ankle all
week long and it
was expected that his halfback slot would be filled by Ken Nesselrotte and Mike Cyrus.
Nesselrotte came
up with a concussion, however, and his status is doubtful at this writing. The remainder
of the backfield
appears to be set with Freshman Randy Brown at quarter along with the hard running
Bobby Blount at
half and the pile-driving Eddie Parker at fullback.
