Playing heads-up football taking advantage of every break, the Leesburg junior high football warriors
racked up victory No. 6 by defeating the juniors of St. Cloud 13 to 6.
It was a hard fought game all the way with the power running of Leesburg's fullback, Stanton Giddeons
outstanding. Leesburg scored in the closing moments of the first quarter. After Gray returned a St.
Cloud
Bulldog punt to the 30, Gideons romped four, four, five and 28 yards in four plays. A Gray to Bridges to
Pennington pitchout added two more points. The half ended in a 7 to 7 tie.
The fired-up Jayvees started the third quarter with great determination. Mike Nappi returned the kickoff
21
yards. A subsequent series of plays brought by Pennington, Gray and Gideons rested the ball on the
six
yard marker. Herb Sanders took the ball over for the touchdown. The point after touchdown was no
good
and the Leesburg team took the lead 13 to 6.
