LHS All Set For Colorful Homecoming

A Pep Session and skits, sponsored by the cheerleaders of Leesburg High School on the school
grounds this afternoon, began today's celebration of Homecoming 1961. A colorful parade through
Uptown Leesburg was staged Thursday night as a prelude to the big event which reaches its heights
tonight.

At 8 p.m. the Yellow Jackets meet the powerful Sanford Seminoles at Leesburg Memorial Field and until
the Homecoming dance at the Community building, which begins after the game, Memorial Field will be
the scene of Homecoming activity.

Bill Thomas will be the master of ceremonies at the halftime events, which will see the crowning of The
Homecoming Queen and the presentation of her court. Float winners will also be announced during the
half-time program.

Candidates for Homecoming Queen and their escorts for tonight are Martha Gail Clark, escorted by
Dicky Huff; Donna Marie Pope, escorted by Steve Cheeseman and Jeannie Dequine, escorted by Ed
Jaggears.

Court attendants are Rosemary King 9th Grade, who will be escorted by Paul Seng and Patricia
Williams, 11th grade, escorted by Bill Floyd.

The 1960 Homecoming Queen, Mrs. Teresa Collins Farner, escorted by Kenneth Farner, will be a
special guest. The Alumni Sponsor, Mary Lou Dooley, will be escorted by Roger Clark.

Among the visiting sponsors are Rose Kratzert, escorted by Ashton Asencio and Desta Horner,
escorted by Hulan Grier.

Dancing will be at the Community Building from about 10 p.m. until midnight. Admission is 75 cents a
couple, $1, single. Music will be by The Vikings of Leesburg.

Homecoming is sponsored by the Student Council of Leesburg High School.

Steve Cheeseman is council president. Jeannie Dequine is Charmian of Homecoming 1961.
