LAKELAND, Fla. - The second football season in Warner University history kicked-off on Saturday night
at
Vikings Stadium at Lakeland Christian School.  Like they did in 2013, the Royals opened their
season against
Stetson University.  On Saturday night, the Hatters emerged 35-16 winners over the
Royals thanks in part to a 25-point second quarter.

The Royals got off to a great start in the first quarter with a 10-7 lead after the first 15 minutes of action.
The Hatters struck first with a touchdown three minutes into the game after
Donald Payne returned a
block punt 25 yards into the end zone.  The Royals answered right back with a seven play, 73 yard drive
capped off by a
Darrin Davis touchdown run of 12 yards.

The play of the first half for the Royals came with six minutes to go in the first quarter.  Linebacker
Rashodd Hadley intercepted Stetson quarterback Ryan Tentler giving the Royals excellent field
position.  Davis navigated the Warner offense down to the Stetson 21 yard line where
kicker Brian
Abrams nailed a 37-yard field goal to put the Royals in the lead 10-7.  The kick was the longest in
school history for the young Royals' program.

The second quarter belonged to the Hatters as they scored four times in five possessions.  The Royals
countered with two turnovers and two punts in four possessions leading to a 32-10 halftime score.

Davis had an impressive start to his Warner debut completing 10-of-17 for 89 yards while racking up 46
yards on the ground.
Roger Allen hauled in 61 of Davis' 89 yards through the air and led the team with
four catches.
