MARTIN, Tenn. -  In the annual spring football game for the University of Tennessee at Martin football
team, the Skyhawk defense highlighted the game with 13 tackles for loss and forcing three fumbles,
intercepting two passes and blocking two field goals.

“I feel like we got a lot done today with the defense getting some turnovers, a lot of plays getting run and
everyone got reps,” UT Martin head football coach Jason Simpson said. “The defense got turnovers in
key situations which is what you want but the offense also moved the ball up and down the field.”

After rain and lightning forced the cancellation of the Skyhawks’ first scrimmage last week, UT Martin
ran 106 plays on a sunny day at Hardy Graham Stadium.

The Skyhawk defense was led by redshirt freshman Garrett Wall who recorded nine tackles, 1.5 tackles
for loss and registered three hurries by UT Martin’s quarterbacks. In the passing game it was the
defensive back duo of Terrious Triplett and Walter Evans leading the way, as each came away with an
interception during the scrimmage.

Offensively the Skyhawks were able to gain 510 yards (248 passing, 262 rushing) and recorded six
touchdowns throughout various starting positions. All three quarterbacks tossed touchdowns and Neal
led the group with 98 yards. Redshirt junior quarterback Manny Stocker added a pair of touchdown
runs, rushing for 39 yards on seven carries.

The rushing attack was led by another quarterback, redshirt freshman Jabari Dunham (Leesburg
High School, Eustis Florida) who had 70 yards on 11 carries.
Junior Najee Ray rushed for 60 yards on
eight carries and freshman Jamie Bowe rushed for 34 yards on a team-high 13 carries. Ladevin Fair
accounted for the Skyhawks’ final touchdown, scoring from five yards out.

Senior Taylor Higgason was the passing attack’s favorite target of the day, hauling in five catches for 90
yards and a touchdown. Another senior, Ben Axline followed closely behind with four receptions for 51
yards and a 14-yard touchdown.

The Skyhawks will return to the field next week for the final two practices of the spring. Practice will
begin at 4 p.m. Monday with the final scrimmage of the spring taking place Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
All practices are open to the public.
