George Miller’s Spectacular Runs Bring Victory to Rollins

Scores Two Touchdowns and Paves Way For Third in Brilliant running
game

George Miller, Leesburg’s mighty mite turned a retreating Rollins squad into a victorious marching unit
in as brilliant a game as one could care to witness at Tinker Field in Orlando last Friday evening
before a throng of people estimated at 4,000. Many attended from this city. Newberry Teachers of
South Carolina had a heavy rugged squad that crowded the Rollins Tars back toward their own goal
line for continued gains when Miller entered the game midway for the first quarter.

Miller was sitting beside Coach Jack McDowell when McDowell said to George, “Go in there and bring
that ball back.” George replied, “It’s coming back Sam,” and he was as good as his word. On the first
play he entered he brought the ball back for 23 yards. At one point, when George took the ball, I looked
like he was “bottled up” by the Teachers but he wriggled his way free to score a touchdown standing
up after half his shirt had been torn off him.

It was as brilliant an exhibition as has ever been seen in a football game in Central Florida. The final
score was 19 to 7 in favor of Rollins. The Newberry Teachers outgained the Rollins Tars by their
power attacks but they could not stop the swift thrusts by Miller who slipped thru their fingers when it
seemed that his opponents had him nailed. Rollins plays South Eastern Louisiana at Orlando
tomorrow (Friday) night.
