The more than 40 members of the football squad of the Leesburg high school together with their
coach will be guests of the Leesburg Jaycees at their regular meeting at noon today. The Jaycees are
sponsoring a drive to raise $2, 000 to construct movable bleachers to be installed in the ball park in
the Venetian Gardens during the coming football season this park having been secured for that
purpose. This drive was scheduled to get under way this week but as several other drives and
programs were conducted at this time, action was postponed until an early dated by the committee.

In discussing the proposed drive for bleachers Ray Hayes, supervising principal for the Leesburg
schools pointed out that the seating facilities in the Venetian Gardens would not be sufficient or in the
proper position for the best observance of the games and he felt that it was essential that bleachers be
constructed on the other side of the field from the new baseball bleacher section. These bleachers
would be of a portable nature and could later be moved to the high school football park when facilities
are improved there. Jaycees were unanimous in their desire to provide these facilities and also some
additional equipment for the players and it was pointed out that the entire athletic program of the
school was dependent almost entirely on the revenue obtained from football games and urged all
possible support from the community in the coming drive.
