Stadium Committee Seeks Workable Financing Plan

G. G. Ware, president of the First National Bank, recommended two plans for insuring the construction
of the memorial: (1) The issuing of revenue bonds to finance the project, or (2) Securing public
contributions to partially complete the project.
Ray Hayes, supervising principal of Leesburg High School, cited the receipts and disbursement of
money received from the athletic events was used to purchase new athletic equipment and to replace
old and worn out uniforms. Little of this money is available for the construction of a badly needed
athletic field.
State Rep. Tim Sellar, past chairman of the Leesburg Memorial Committee, in outlining the history of
the committee, pointed out that patriotism, whether it comes from the rich or the poor, was the same
and that everyone should have the opportunity to participate in providing a suitable memorial for our
service men.
